Video in Real Estate

I have attended several conferences and seminars all proclaiming the value of video in today's marketing approach. Realtors are always trying to differentiate themselves and provide unique service that makes them better than the next guy. Not long ago one way to do that was by adding professional pictures to the listing. Professional pictures draw people in and allow them to experience the home in a more complete way than they would have been able to with cell phone pictures or amateur photography. Now, this is pretty much industry standard (although I still see some listings with very poor photography) and most realtors will add a complimentary photo shoot with their marketing plan.

Today, the way to have your listing stand out is to provide a 1-2 minute video tour. Forget about doing this yourself, no one likes to watch shaky, amateur video and will almost instantly turn it off. Hiring a professional videographer to do a concise tour with high quality, stable footage can really up the marketing game! People consume, share and react to huge amounts of video content on social media and this can be a huge advantage in displaying the property to hundreds or thousands more people who could potentially be buyers or know someone who is a buyer.

Who knows, maybe soon we will be talking about virtual reality and augmented reality with full immersive video content, but today, social media video is a powerful tool in the bag of a realtor and should, in my opinion, be used on every listing!
